Here's a quick summary of The Bulletproof Executive's first appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast. The podcast itself is over 2 hours long if you're game:

Bulletproof Coffee is a low-toxin coffee (which has a different mental effect vs the normal swill you can buy on any street corner) blended with unsalted butter from grass-fed cows (anti inflamatories and short chain fatty acids your brain needs) and medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) which have been centrifuged from coconut oil. You blend it all together to get a creamy, frothy and delicious drink that will keep you full for 8 hours and give you a mental focus "that's just insane."

How does it work?

  • Keeps you full: Short and medium chain fatty acids from butter and mct oil that are really hard to get in a normal diet.
  • Helps escort cafestol and kawehol (pychoactive compounds that are not caffeine) into the brain
  • When you blend the butter, small droplets of fat called mycells form which absorb better into the body
  • MCT oil can be used by your body without expending much energy at all. Body builders use it during their ripping and shedding phase, may help with relief of symptoms of alzheimer's disease and also makes you feel really good.

Joe Rogan puts 4 tablespoons of coconut oil in his morning Kale shakes - Dave reckons everyone should be eating coconut oil (unless their allergic to coconuts.)

What is the benefit of putting salt in your body every morning?

When you wake up in the morning, your reptilian brain says "i've got to have enough blood pressure in the brain when this body stands up - if not, this guy's going to pass out and a tiger's going to eat him - A survival level imperative inside your body. So your adrenal glands are asked to pump out some cortisol and then adjust your sodium/potassium ration (down on potassium, up on sodium) If you drink salt (sodium) in the morning soon after waking up, then your adrenals don't have to do all that work and you have your adrenal function working better for you for the rest of the day.

Meditate - Don't sweat the small stuff. It's not worth getting worked up about.

Dave's Story:

297lb (135kg) was working out 1 1/2 hours a day, 6 days a week contributed to chronic inflammation and did not result in weight loss or muscle gain. He flipped the script:

DevelopedBulletproof Intermittent Fasting

Take-away: Fat doesn't make you fat. Calories aren't the problem. Calories fuel your brain. What makes you fat? Leptin resistance, inflammation in the gut and insulin sensitivity and synthetic oestrogen are factors.

Sugar + too much w-6: With oils that oxidise easily (every unsaturated bond in that oil can oxidise (oxygen, heat and light.)

Epigenetics examples (multi-generation effects)

Threat to my species (running everyday)

Famine (eating low-fat/calorie foods)

Mycotoxins and how to minimize your exposure.

Grass-fed meat….dry ageing necessary?

Hang meat to let it age: mould and bacteria.

Dry ageing is not bulletproof….

Can you cut up fresh body without going through dry ageing?

Post workout meal:

Absolutely critical to eat, but you have to drop your cortisol level, otherwise it stays elevated for 48 hours and you're not going to get optimal muscle gain. Eat a good amount of quality protein, fat and a (bulletproof) starch like sweet potatoes.

Example: MCT Oil + Raw Chocolate Powder + Raw Honey

The China Study on Casein:

Smoked sockeye salmon

Synaptogenesis

10,000 times to expertise...myelinating...requires fatty foods...you've got to have grass fed meat from a reputable source, free from antibiotics,

Grass-fed, perfectly humanely treated animals.

Upgraded Chef

antinutrients (phytic acid)

for some people....too much choline (choline dominant people) can be countered with amiracetam.

Best collagen is made from the skin of the animal (rather than the snouts et al)

Upgraded MCT Oil

Centrifuged coconut oil to seperate out capric and caprylic acids for weight loss & cognitive function. tasteless and odourless. 6x more energy than coconut oil.

Vitamin D: Cholesterol plus Sunshine

Vitamin D and cholesterol are metabolically linked because cholesterol is a key precursor for the skin's synthesis of vitamin D3 when exposed to sunlight.

Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in all cells, essential for producing hormones, vitamin D, and bile acids that aid digestion. While high LDL (bad) cholesterol contributes to plaque buildup in arteries, cholesterol is necessary for many vital functions.

Magnesium may also be the key to unlocking deep, restorative sleep.

Insomnia, restlessness or night craps getting in the way of your sleep? These are signs of a magnesium deficiency.

Chronic stress, busy schedules, and excessive screen time before bed, millions of Australians struggle to get quality shut-eye. However, research continues to support the idea of a simple solution: getting enough of the essential mineral magnesium.
